Zinedine Zidane fears Liverpool's players will be prepared to die on the pitch - yet asserts they will never defeat us Real Madrid's long for wonderfulness.

Zidane demands the possibility of influencing Champions league history by winning the trophy three times consecutively will make his players relentless in Kiev.

Real Madrid manager Zidane has directed a turbulent season at the Bernabeu yet they generally meet people's high expectations with regards to European achievement.

Zidane said: “How can anyone say that they (Liverpool) have more hunger than us? We have the chance to win it for a third time. What this club has is a desire to lift this trophy. No one can say they have more hunger than us.

“A lot of their players have not played a final so what? They are going to go out on die on that pitch to win the game and we have to be ready for that.

"It’s a one-off game away from home. The fact that we have more experience counts for nothing. Nothing at all. We have to win the game.

“They have not won it for 11 years and we won it last year, it doesn’t matter. Both teams want to win it.

“The difficult thing is to reach the final, the most difficult thing is to get here and this year it was quite a complex one and there is still no guarantee that you can do anything. But this team has heart, they never give up and that’s the way they are.

“People talk about their front three or that they have less in defence. But they are a team and they have reached the final as a team. We have to look for their weaknesses and try to exploit them.

“We fear nothing. The three last matches we’ve played against the best in Europe. That’s why it’s very valuable having difficulties through the season.”

It was fighting talk from Zidane who has been under pressure on numerous occasions this season because of his team’s failings in La Liga.

They have finished third and 17 points behind champions Barcelona and yet whenever it comes to Europe they just seem to find a different level of performance.

Their big players step up as warriors like Sergio Ramos and Marcelo while, in Cristiano Ronaldo, Zidane insists they have the best of them all.

Incredibly, Ronaldo has scored 44 goals for Real Madrid this season which is the same as Mo Salah’s tally for Liverpool.

Yet Zidane laughed off a question as to whether he would swap 33-year-old Ronaldo for Salah.

Zidane said: “No. I would not swap Cristiano or any of my players. Cristiano is the utmost. He’s the best, so he will be of utmost important.

“I’m always calm because that’s the way I am, that’s my nature. My nature is calm and at the end it’s better to have Cristiano, better to have Cristiano with you because he proves that every year.

“I believe that a player knows he may have a complex moment but for him it’s the other way round. When he doesn’t score, he still knows he will score three or four times in a row. He knows he will get there, he can handle pressure and knows he will get there.

“Some players cannot handle pressure. For him, it’s the other way round., The more pressure you give him, the more you criticise him, the better he plays.”

Zidane admitted his biggest “headache” will be his selection on Saturday with Gareth Bale up against Isco and Karim Benzema for a starting place.

It is clear that Zidane has a strained relationship with Bale at times and yet there is still a decision to be made.

Zidane said: “Bale is playing very well and he is scoring goals. And above all he is training well. He has done some good things not just the goals. The BBC (Bale, Benzema, Cristiano) have shown many times how good they are. But I always have to decide.

“The toughest thing for a coach is the players who will not play. As a coach, I never knew that, I was never benched and it can be difficult.

“Sometimes my head hurts, I have a headache, I would be a liar if I said that didn’t happen. Why some players play, why others don’t. That’s a coach’s worry. They are benched.

Zidane also instead while he may lack expertise in certain areas, his own approach to the game will match the commitment of his players.

He added: “I may not be the best tactician, but I have other qualities, such as passion and motivation, which are more important.”
