Chelsea 'would have to pay £26.7million' to sack under-fire boss Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte’s future at Chelsea is in doubt after a stuttering run of results.

Monday night’s thrashing at Watford - on the back of the 3-0 loss at home to Bournemouth - left the west London club fourth.

They are 19 points off the top and look a shadow of the side that ran away from the rest 12 months ago.

The Italian may have led the Blues to the Premier League title in his debut season, but failing to challenge leaders Manchester City this term means the revolving manager’s door could be set to spin once more.

Conte was rewarded with a bumper new contract last summer that runs until 2021 after guiding the Blues to the championship.

Club director Marina Granovskaia hoped the 48-year-old could "continue to deliver results both domestically and [in] the Champions League."

The Blues face a crunch last-16 clash against Barcelona and defeat against the Catalans could be the final nail in Conte's coffin.

However, it is claimed Roman Abramovich would have to cough up a staggering £26.7million in severance pay to show the former Juventus boss the door.
